Pragmatism

If the performance is only 35% then what are you doing right 35% of the time? Can you do more of what's right and less of the other? What small steps can be taken immediately?

Involvement & Innovation

Without people's involvement and innovation, the real issues are unlikely to be uncovered and addressed; not only this but the best solutions will not be found and there will be little commitment and ownership of the actions being put forward.

Plan - Do - Review

In most cases it is better to plan and implement something that can then be reviewed and improved upon, so as to gain some initial momentum within the team, rather than achieve paralysis by analysis.

Keep it simple and fit for function

A simple business needs a simple solution - as Pareto said "80% is achieved with 20% of effort". If solutions are kept simple then people are more likely to remember how to use them and not get frustrated by them.

Positivity

Bringing those negative thinkers on board often has a big impact on results, so it's important to take a positive 'can do' outlook at all times - where there's a will there's a way.
